CHALLENGE:

To create a visual display that invokes the solemnity of having lost a loved one of Latin heritage to AIDS. Placing a single candle in the middle of darkness emblazoned with the much revered Virgen de Guadalupe icon conveys much with spare. The vector artwork required the perfect balance of light from the flame itself as well as the light that comes from within the candle as a result. Shadows needed to be carefully added to ensure a realistic visual of the candle in a dark setting. Another challenge was to create a tag line for the event that would celebrate those from the past, present and future so affected with this horrible panedemic. The two badges that flank the candle added a certain Mexican flavor to enhance the event ambience.
